Kyoto Institute of
Culture and Language

Kyoto is endowed with a rich cultural heritage and a lush natural environment, and is well known as an international city of culture and science. Historically, Kyoto has always been very aggressive in the assimilation of foreign culture, while at the same time creating and developing its own, unique culture, and even at present is continuing to create new traditions through human and cultural exchange.

In 1969, a Japanese language school was opened in Kyoto for people who wanted to learn about Japan and Japanese culture. During the next 35 years, a wide variety of people from 68 countries around the world would come to Japan to study at Kyoto International Center of Language, and a great many of them continue to actively use their Japanese in the fields of business or research. Furthermore, there are many graduates who have gone on to continue their educations in advanced learning at various colleges and universities throughout Japan.

With this long tradition and history as Kyoto International Center of Languages, Kyoto Institute of Culture and Language was established as a Japanese language educational facility in conformity with Japanese educational law to achieve still higher levels of excellence in the field of Japanese language education.
